You’d be hard-pressed to find a better collection of classic American muscle cars than the person collection of Carroll Shelby himself. On June 3rd, 2018, that’s exactly what’s coming across the block in Greenwich, Connecticut — some choice cars from the Texan’s estate. The collection runs from Shelby’s famous collaborations with Ford, to lesser-known projects with Dodge and even General Motors. Highlights include a 1969 Shelby G.T. 500, a 1965 427 Cobra continuation, and the very first Shelby Series 1, chassis 0001. All cars sell with no reserve, making this an excellent opportunity to own a classic with a great history.

I thought for sure I would find a Jalopnik article about this, I didn’t. Will probably see one soon.

Interesting that he had a ‘69 since Shelby American didn’t have much of anything to do with it. Maybe even that old snake oil salesman was powerless in the face of the mighty NACA duct.

My grandpa bought a 69 from Shelby’s South Lake Tahoe dealership. It was that color too. Then something fell on it and he changed the color to another factory color, like an almost black dark brown, with the gold stripes. I have a picture of me sitting in it somewhere, like a real photograph in a book somewhere (kids you don’t understand) Like this:

You just can’t go wrong with a ‘69 Mustang fastback, whether it’s a Mach I, Boss, Shelby or a plain old base. They are all just perfect.

The ‘69s were where they lost me. I just don’t think they look good from any angle. And I love Mustangs.
